2018 New Year Dedication

Presenting Bhutan Pilgrimage and Dedication Prayer on New Year Day of Year 2018

By Tenam

As we wave goodbye to Year 2017 and march towards Year 2018, I want to express some thoughts with joy.

I had a very productive Year 2017 duty-wise as well as spiritual level in my life.

This most productive outcome was possible not because of my ability but of the profound blessings by my Supreme Guru Vajradhara His Holiness Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa and their Majesties the Kings and Queens of the Kingdom of Bhutan.

Through their kind blessings, I had the most fortune to spend 40 precious days in Bhutan. Without wasting such a great opportunity, I did pilgrimages to many holy places of Guru Rinpoche, the second Buddha and many renown Tertons.

As a result of a productive Year 2017, I feel lots of merits were gained and I wish to dedicate those merits for the longevity of His Holiness Gyalwang Karmapa Ogyen Drodul Trinley Dorje, my Supreme Guru Vajradhara His Holiness Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa, as well as for their Majesties the Kings and Queens of the Kingdom of Bhutan.  I also wish to dedicate the merits for all of their profound Buddha activities to continue to flourish and benefit the entire sentient beings.

Also by the blessings of my supreme Guru Vajradhara His Holiness Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa and their Majesties, may I have more opportunities in the near future for more pilgrimages that cover all holy places in Bhutan.

Through the connection of my dedication, I’d like to share some of my Bhutan pilgrimage pictures to all fellow friends. By seeing the pictures of these holy places, may you all receive the same blessings. And I sincerely wish you all a HAPPY NEW YEAR 2018.

The Yearning Song of Intense Faith Calling Guru From Afar

Calling Guru is not that we call Guru with wonderful words to make benefits for him or to please him. The only reason I request the Eminent Master who has unbroken Samaya to compose this Calling Guru song is to bring unconditional blessings for us genuine and faithful disciples of Guru Vajradhara to awaken our ignorant mind and to give us opportunity of becoming oneness with our Guru Vajradhara who is the embodiment of Buddha Vajradhara to serve the entire sentient beings. The Venerable Goche Garchen Tulku Rinpoche has sung this piece with his beautiful voice. Not only does he have a nice voice, more beautifully is that he has unconditional devotion to Guru Vajradhara Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa. So by sharing this recording, may it benefit those who have genuine devotion towards Guru Vajradhara to receive lots of blessings because these words were composed by His Eminence Sangye Nyenpa Rinpoche.

Composed by H.E. Sangye Nyenpa Rinpoche

Whose banner of fame is known in all directions,

PEMA DON YO NYIN JE KHEN NO

Padma Donyo Nyinje consider me!

Whatever appears to you appears as the events of dharmakaya.

NYIE ZIN MING GI LHAG MAR GYUR CHING

So you have become supreme over the names of dualistic grasping

LHAR CHEY DRO WEI CHOED NEI ZIN PA

And together with the gods, are a place of offerings for migrators,

PEMA DON YO NYIN JE KHEN NO

Padma Donyo Nyinje consider me!

DAG SÖ DEE NEI JANG CHUB BHAR DU

Should I and others until enlightenment

MEE DRAL DZU GI GYEN DU TEN NA

Rely on you unceasingly as the crown ornament,

THUG JEI NAM YANG YEL WA MEI PEI

Then please, through your compassionate activity,

KU SUNG THUG KYI JIN LAB TSOL DZOD

Always bestow your blessing of body, speech, and mind.

This is supplication, connected with calling from afar the guru Kenting Tai Situ Rinpoche, who is the Guardian Maitreya in person, was written at the grand seat of Palpang, Sherab Ling. His wise, chief-attendant Lama Tenam urged me, the one named Palden Rangjung Thrinley Kunkhyab Tenpai Gyaltsen Palzangpo who holds the title Sangye Nyenpa, with a token following which, with unalterable faith that Tai Situ is the Supreme Guardian, I supplicated one-pointedly and wrote this down.

A Profound Doha Composed by 16th Karmapa and Sung by Guru Vajradhara

On this very auspicious day of turning the first wheel of Dharma by Lord Buddha (Chokor Duchen), I decide to release this special and profound doha (song of realization) written by His Holiness the 16th Gyalwang Karmapa describing his yearning to meet his Guru Tai Situpa again and again by the blessing of Mother White Tara. It is sung by Guru Vajradhara when he returned back to the residence after the recent surgery.

May everyone be liberated from the suffering of samsara and attain the ultimate happiness and joy by hearing this profound and blessed melody.  This is the sincere aspiration of Tenam.

The English translation of the lyrics is taken from the book “Dharma King – The Life of the 16th Gyalwang Karmapa in Images”

The song is ala thala thala.
Ala is the way it arose:
Thala is the way it is expressed in words.

In a pure land, rich with turquoise leaves.
On a throne of brilliant, white shell,
Is the deity of long life, the mother Lady Tara.
I pray to her from the depths of my heart.
May there be no obstacles to long life

If you do not recognize this place,
It is the Retreat House of Palpung.
If you do not recognize a person like me,
Recall the upper valley of delightful Shukra
And the lower valley of delightful Shukra.

In the place between the two Shukras
Is a child who descends from Tshazhang Denma.
lf you call him by name, it is Thubten Gelek.
Not now, but on a distant tomorrow, it will be decided.
Both the vulture and I know where to go.

The vulture soars into the depths of space:
We people do not stay but go to India.
In the springtime. a cuckoo comes as a guest.
In the fall when the harvest ripens, it knows where to go:
Its only thought is travel to the east of India.

In the lofty land of Tibet, the inhabitants, high and low.
And in particular, you, Tai Situ, the Lord and Protector Maitreya.
Who remains above the crown of our head.
May your activities, like the sun and moon set in space.
Be continuous, stable, and without hindrance.

I pray that we meet again and again.
May the three roots — the lamas, yidams, and dakinis —
Protect him from negative conditions and obstacles.
Keep the precise meaning recorded here in the depth of your heart.
